Dr. Carina L. Massa
Dr. Carina L. Massa is a bilingual Licensed Psychologist specializing in the treatment of psychological disorders in children, adolescents, and adults, including mood disorders (anxiety and depression), behavioral problems, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, personality disorders, and developmental delays. Dr. Massa provides both individual and family based therapy to promote growth in the areas of emotional regulation, self-esteem, and relationships. She is skilled in supporting patients as they process issues related to trauma and family conflict and acquire positive coping methods. Dr. Massa has had extensive experience providing psychotherapeutic services to children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds in Miami, Florida. She utilizes an integrative approach in her treatment in order to address the individual needs of each patient and family. Dr. Massa graduated with a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University’s Clinical Psychology program. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Child and Family Health in Miami, Florida, a community health center. This setting provided training in the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), child-centered play therapy, psychodynamic therapy and interpersonal therapy. During these two years, Dr. Massa conducted comprehensive psychological evaluations to pre-school through high school-aged students. She also provided individual psychotherapy to children and adolescents and conducted group therapy sessions following an evidence-based model for at-risk boys and their families. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Massa continued her work at the Institute for Child and Family Health as an Outpatient Coordinator and a Clinical Supervisor. Dr. Massa currently works out of the South Miami office.
