Diana Acevedo, M.S., CCC-SLP
Diana Acevedo, M.S. CCC-SLP, is a bilingual Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with extensive experience working with a wide range of speech, language, and feeding disorders in diverse settings. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a Master’s in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University, with a reputation for providing holistic, patient-centered interventions.
Diana specializes in social pragmatic language and has earned certification in Social Thinking, allowing her to effectively address the unique needs of children and individuals with social communication challenges. She also holds an Orton-Gillingham certification, enabling her to provide targeted reading interventions for children with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.
Diana has worked at reputable institutions, including as the lead clinician at Duke University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has also served as a clinical supervisor at Teacher’s College Columbia University and Nova University, where she guided students and led programs in speech and language therapy. She has presented at prestigious national and international conferences, including the American Cleft Palate Association (ACPA), Illinois Speech Hearing Association (ISHA), and the South American Cleft Palate Congress in Salvador, Brazil. She has provided speech services and training to speech therapists and students in underserved communities in Neiva, Colombia, Quito, Ecuador, and Ghana, Africa, through Smile Train. Her work with Smile Train has focused on training local professionals to deliver quality care to children with cleft lip and palate, ensuring sustainable, long-term impact in these communities.
In her current role, Diana is a key member of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Team, where she offers intervention and assessments for children with cleft lip and palate, as well as other craniofacial anomalies. She also works at Pediatric Psychology Associates, facilitating the SURF and PEERS group programs and providing evaluations and individual therapy for social thinking and communication skills. Diana is dedicated to providing a supportive, well-rounded approach to speech and language therapy, meeting the needs of children and families with a range of communication challenges. She works out of the Aventura, Boca Raton and Weston locations.
